Christmas around the Howell House

I must apologize now for the lack of blogging. I could write so much at Christmas time. Unfortunately, on Thanksgiving I found out that my nice, new camera had a messed up lens and couldn't be used. It took a while for me to get a replacement lens, but my work gave me a generous Christmas bonus and voila! Pictures again!

We have our Christmas tree decorated, lights outside, stockings hung and even a fire in our fireplace.

Ramsey Reunion

The first weekend in December the best 3 friends a girl could ask for came to visit!

We had a bit of a college reunion (Ramsey was the Samford dorm room we lived in together) since we hadn't all been together since our senior year in 2004.

This time things were a little different...

KIDS!!!!

We had a great time and just did a lot of hanging around our house and catching up. It's hard to do much with three 1 year olds plus Arianna and Bernie. Although my kids tried to be helpful with the "babies".

The adorable Teddy and Danielle

(and baby#2, which we now know is a boy!)

Sweet Archard and Jenn

Cutie Hudson and Katie

Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of all of us with the kids or the four of us girls, but I know somebody did!

Also, a major props to amazing Marty for letting all the girls crash at our place and having 3 additional kids. AND having to listen to our girl talk/loud obnoxious laughter all night.

We promised to get together at least every 5 years, but we hope to see one another sooner. And now that our kids have met, next time is ALL girls and NO babies!!!

To send or not to send...

Every year I've wanted to get the perfect Christmas card picture and send out the perfect Christmas card. Finally, this year I decided that I will be sending out the photo Christmas card, not the Christmas card with photos in it. I have my nice, new camera to take the perfect pictures too!

Shutterfly has a great selection of templates to choose from and all you have to do is add your perfect picture! I am still deciding which one to choose, but I have a few favorites.

I've also been browsing their site for other Christmas gift ideas.
Check these out:
photo playing cards
Turn your pictures into a canvas
Precious ornament
I've always wanted to create a photo book - these are so easy, yet elegant!

Have you ever ordered from Shutterfly? They always have promotions going on to get a good discount. Go check it out!

Alright, I've got to go pick my cards or I'll miss this Christmas too!

Halloweeeeeeen

Our Halloween was not just a one day event. It was the. entire. weekend. And the amount of candy could attest for that.

On Friday night, Arianna and Bernie had a sleepover at Marty's parents along with their 3 cousins. Grammy had all kind of fun halloween activities including carving pumpkins, making masks and of course eating goodies. They even brought home (non-candy) halloween souvenirs, pictures to commemorate their night, and their carved pumpkins. According to Grammy, they actually slept too!

Saturday evening we went to a halloween party thrown by my friend Shannon. There was tons of candy, lots of games and toys too. Arianna wore her Tinkerbell costume but Bernie refused to wear his Dash Incredibles costume. He was the only kid not dressed up. (It's okay to be stubborn independent, right?)

Getting dressed and SOOOO excited to be Tinkerbell!

Playing games with the big kids.

On Sunday, we went to our church's trunk or treat with Mimi and Papa. Again, Bernie refused to wear his Halloween costume. However, once Marty came home from work before neighborhood trick-or-treating, Bernie had to wear his costume. And I'm so glad Marty made him do it (afterall, we couldn't let that well spent money go to waste), because he was soooooo cute!

These kids are just so full of fun!

Dash is ready to run for the candy.

Tinkerbell flies off to go trick-or-treating

And a little fall yard deocartions.

Each time Bernie got candy, whether it was at trunk or treat or in the neighborhood, he said thank you and immediately it followed with "Give me MORE candy!" Slightly embarrassing for mommy and daddy but, the boy knows what he wants.

Dino Roarin' 3rd Birthday

Bernie had his 3rd birthday party almost 3 weeks ago, so I guess I'm sticking with the 3 theme by waiting 3 weeks to blog about it.

We had some family and friends over to celebrate Bernie's Dino Roarin' 3rd birthday.
Marty found this awesome cake and even added some special affects of his own.

Oh yeah, this cake had a roarin', action dinosaur along with some smoke coming out of the volcanoes.

(excuse the pink and purple candles, it's all we had on hand)

(That's what happens when your birthday is one month after big sister's)

(I know what it's like to be the 2nd child too.)

(That was a joke Mom and Dad!)

Grammy and her grandbabies along with Bernie's new bike.

Daddy and son moment as son learns the new remote controlled car.

At the end of the night, Arianna exclaimed "I want a remote controlled car for my birthday too!"

Bernie kept asking for "mwore cake" and "mwore pwesents" anytime anyone mentioned it was his birthday. Thank you friends and family, near and far, who made it a great birthday for Bernie!

Pumpkin Festival and Veggie Tales

It's been quite a busy week around here. We are planning Bernie's 3rd birthday party for this Sunday, even though his actual birthday isn't until Thursday. It's gets so busy around Halloween, that we kind of have to squeeze it in.

Last Sunday, we went to the Hunsader Farms Pumpkin Festival about 20 miles from here. It's hard to believe farms exist only 20 miles from us, since our area is so busy and populated and basically has no vacant land. We headed to the festival with Marty's parents and sisters. Lots of cousin fun!

Going through the hay maze

Sharing their orange soda, which resulted in orange mustaches the rest of the day.

Grammy caught dancing with the kiddos!

At the Boogie Barn, where you Boogie, of course. Look who was shy and sat down the whole time.

Hay maze, petting zoo, pony rides, circus and so much more!

On Thursday evening, my mom took us to see Veggie Tales Live. Arianna said she loved it while Bernie became somewhat uninterested after intermission.

The kids are standing at the stage for a close up view. This was at the very end. Do you see that black box to the left of Bernie? Looks like a speaker, right?

Well 2 seconds later we found out that it was a bubble machine! Bubby had bubbles all over his head!

What a fun week! Look out for a dino-roaring birthday party coming up!
